Overview

Current members in good standing of the Burlington Rifle and Revolver Club (BRRC) now have the option of paying their annual dues by Interac e-Transfer (sometimes referred to as Email Money Transfer or EMT).

Interac e-Transfer is an alternative to sending a cheque or money order to the club.  The choice of payment method is up to each member, and the amount due is the same regardless of the payment mode you select.

Payment by Interac e-Transfer is done via your Bank’s online banking web site.  Additionally, your Bank may charge a fee for providing the e-Transfer service.  These fees are typically in the $1-2 dollar range but do vary between financial institutions and may change at any time.  All fees and other arrangements with the bank are the responsibility of the member.

For more information regarding Interac e-Transfer please see your bank’s web site and the Interac web site www.interac.ca/consumers/faqs.php#eTransfer.

Procedure

Renewal letters will be mailed to members in November with a due date of December 31.  To pay by Interact e-Transfer you will need the member ID shown in red digits in the bottom section of your renewal letter.  You cannot renew via e-Transfer without your member ID.

Before renewing, or sending an e-Transfer, you will need to set up renewals@rangeburlington.ca as a payee using your online banking web site. The procedure to do this varies between Banks, please refer to you Bank’s web site for the process.  The security code word for this payee must be “BRRC” (no quotation marks, upper case only); CIBC users must use "BRRCBRRC".  E-Transfers with incorrect security codes may be silently rejected.

This e-mail address is to be used for membership renewal payments only, please see the Club web site (www.rangeburlington.ca) for additional e-mail addresses and contact options.

When the payee is set up you can then use the Bank’s web site to send the amount due as indicated on the renewal letter.  If payment is late be sure to include the late fee.

You may send one transfer with payment for multiple members, but the full member names and IDs for all members included in the payment must be indicated in the message portion of the transfer.  This is particularly important if the member name(s) are not the same as the legal full name associated with or on record with online banking used to send the transfer.

We will process your payment within 10 business days.  When your payment is processed you will receive an e-mail from Interac on behalf of your bank indicating your payment was accepted.  Within 20 business days you should receive your receipt and sticker for the upcoming year by postal mail.

Problems

If we cannot determine the member(s) that your transfer is paying for, or if the amount is incorrect, or if your dues are in arrears, or if there are any other issues with the transfer we will not accept it.  In this case you will need to cancel it using your Bank’s web site and send a replacement e-Transfer with the necessary corrections.

If your current e-mail address is not on file with your Bank, BRRC may receive your e-Transfer, but you may not receive confirmation notices.  Please ensure that your Bank’s on-line profile is up to date.

If your dues are not up to date, if you did not receive a renewal letter, if your postal address has changed, if you need to verify your member ID or for any other assistance with regard to renewing your annual membership please contact us at membership@rangeburlington.ca or 905-639-2039 (voice mail).

If your Bank does not participate in the Interac e-Transfer program, you will not be able to renew your membership via Interac e-Transfer. In that case, you will need to send a cheque or money order. For assistance with electronic banking see your bank web site or contact their customer service department.
